HHS Invests in Substance Use Treatments for Schools

Secretary Becerra announces funding to develop and support school-based mental health programs.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has made more than $88 million available for schools to support mental health services for substance abuse disorders among students. The funding will be distributed through a variety of grant programs, but the majority of the funding will be made available through the HHS’s Project Advancing Wellness and Resiliency in Education program.

“The United States is currently facing an unprecedented mental health crisis, with young people being especially impacted,”  said HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra. “These grant programs will help all Americans get the support and care they need.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Becerra to seek God’s direction as he facilitates the program for mental health and substance use in schools.
  • For HHS officials as they support the wellness and resiliency program for school students.
  • That American students who are exposed or addicted to opioids will seek assistance.
